NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing
This qualification covers specific skills necessary to become a senior stylist. Level 3 will build on existing knowledge and skills to become a creative stylist. Your skills will be assessed as you progress, this can be carried out in the Academy or in you workplace.
The Academy is able to offer a Level 3 Diploma for Hairdressing Apprentices.
This is a day release programme. You will be at The Academy for one day a week and the rest of the week working in a salon.
The course involves successful completion of the following specialist units:
- Provide client consultation services
- Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
- Creatively colour and lighten hair
- Creatively style and dress hair
- Develop and enhance your creative skills
- Colour correction
To be accepted onto this course, you normally are required to have:
- NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing
- A strong commitment to working in the industry
You will have to provide stationery, equipment, a level 3 textbook, a full tool kit and uniform. Specialist equipment will be provided by The Academy.
You will be assessed throughout the course by building a portfolio of evidence. To gain the full NVQ all units need to be completed. You will be responsible for bringing in clients for practical assessment.
Assessors can come and assess practical skills in a salon situation. You may be required to take functional skills in Maths and English at level 2.
